Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour Discipline Group
The HRMOB Group is an interdisciplinary social science teaching and research group that brings together academics interested in a broad range of ‘people management’ issues. Members conduct research within the broad areas of: organisation studies, work psychology and human resource management.
By operating across the boundaries of conventional academic disciplines and between the boundaries of applied and fundamental research, the Group makes a distinctive contribution to knowledge and practice.
Specific areas of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Career Management
- Working identities and workplace equalities
- Health, safety and well-being
- Sociology of contemporary professional work
- Gender and work-life interface
- Employability, job security and voluntary work
- Organisational psychology and people management
The Group’s output ranges from traditional academic scholarship to work with a significant impact on public policy and management. The latter includes contributions to health and safety regulation, careers development, organisational change, employee participation, knowledge and project management. The Group holds regular research seminars and workshop, and several members of the Group also belong to professional bodies.
