Engage with us
As a former student of Loughborough University we would like to hear from you!
We want to ensure that Loughborough is for life by providing our alumni with opportunities to stay in touch, get involved and support our activities. In return we can help you to expand your knowledge, develop your skills and career potential and connect with our SBE community.
For further information or to discuss opportunities of engaging with us, please email Sbe.Alumni@lboro.ac.uk
Placements and Internships
The School of Business and Economics wants to make sure that all students are able to graduate with the skills and knowledge to make a valuable contribution in the work place. That is why we offer undergraduate students on all our programmes the opportunity to undertake a paid professional placement as part of their degree.
Loughborough attracts high quality students and their enthusiasm and commitment to learn is what makes a placement a fantastic opportunity for both the employer and the student on placement.
Loughborough is a pioneer of the sandwich placement and the School has a team of staff who support employers and students to make the most of the opportunities a placement can bring.
We are always looking to develop more links with companies who would be interested in supporting a placement and our alumni can really help us by considering whether you could support a paid placement in your work place.
MBA students who choose the MBA with Internship option are seeking to secure a 45-52 week professional internship in their second year.
An internship is especially desirable to our international MBA students as it offers them the opportunity to:
- Gain invaluable UK work experience
- Apply what they have learnt to a live commercial environment
- Build their UK work experience in a management or consultancy role (non-UK internships may be permitted)
To learn more about the MBA Internship, please visit our Study Options page or if you are an organisation interested in providing an internship, please contact Natalie Sermon on +44 (0)1509 228005 or N.M.Sermon@lboro.ac.uk.
Each year the School of Business and Economics has a number of students who start up a business or who are interested in becoming self-employed either after graduation or later on in their career.
A mentor can provide immeasurable support to a young entrepreneur by sharing experiences and helping them to realise their business idea. It is also an extremely rewarding experience for the mentor themselves and may identify some potentially interesting investment opportunities!
If you are interested in becoming a business mentor and supporting the next generation of business leaders, we would be delighted to hear from you. We are looking for business people who have extensive experience of business start-up, entrepreneurship and innovations management.
To find out more about our work in Enterprise and Innovation Management visit our Enterprise section.

From its earliest days Loughborough has produced research that matters, driven not only by the highest levels of intellectual curiosity and achievement, but also by the need for solutions to immediate problems in social, economic, and industrial practice.
Supporting the Loughborough research community could have far reaching benefits for both your business and our students. Developing partnerships with Industry also helps us to remain competitive and at the cutting edge of business practice.
So how can we work together?
- Often our research requires access to data. Industry data sets might include things like retail sales trends, employment trends or financial data connected to investment activities or stock market behaviour.
- Our PhD Students need access to industry professionals for surveys, interviews and case studies to use in their research.
- Working in collaboration with industry to develop understanding and tackle a key business challenge.
Our Research pages provide more information on our research centres and areas of research interest. If you see something that has relevance to your business operation, please contact us for an exploratory discussion about the potential opportunities for partnership working.
