Why did you choose Loughborough University?
When I was in Secondary School I had the opportunity to go to Holland and take part in mock Model United Nations debates. It was here that I caught the bug for international affairs and Loughborough University provided me with the chance to further my interest through studying International Relations.
What attracted you to the University in the first place?
I felt as though it would suit me as I enjoy analytical subjects. Studies of international conflicts are a particular interest of mine and there have been many opportunities in my course to examine war between states and their ability to cooperate. I was also attracted to the focus on going beyond what you read in the newspapers and being able to broaden my knowledge on everyday political occurrences.
What do you enjoy about your course?
The opportunity to keep up with current affairs and the chance to incorporate it into your studies. Since studying International Relations I feel as though I am more aware of the happenings around the world and I am able to understand the broader meaning of it. This is something that I have not had the ability to do before.
What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?
The teaching quality is excellent. The lecturers are engaging and explain complex theories and ideas in a manageable way. They offer you support with your studies whenever you require through their office hours. All lectures include wider reading giving clear guidance on how to further your learning.
What are some of the exciting/ different things you can do on your course?
You have the opportunity to take your studies abroad for a semester or a year. This gives a chance to travel and complete your degree at the same time while broadening your horizons.
What do you enjoy the most about being a Loughborough University Student?
It is a friendly and welcoming university with a great social atmosphere. I enjoy most the balance between a social life through friends and sport and studying for my degree.
