Lecturer in Robotics and Autonomous Systems

Background:

Thomas Bamber was appointed to a Lectureship in the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering in September 2019.

He achieved his MEng (Hons) in Aeronautical Engineering at Loughborough University in 2012, where he focused on Autonomous Systems including UAVs. After graduating, he continued his academic career by working as a Research Associate for the Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering Department on the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Taxi project.

Thomas Bamber remained at Loughborough to continue his Airbus UK sponsored postgraduate research studies in Structure Mounted Automation and continued working as a Research Engineer in the Intelligent Automation Centre on a number of High Value Manufacturing systems integration projects for project partners including Rolls-Royce. He was awarded his PhD in April 2018.

Thomas Bamber is also the COO of blockchain infrastructure company Cube 3 Technologies.

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics - inclusion in the exclusive ‘Highlights of 2016’ collection
On the Journal's 50th anniversary, ‘Investigation of relationship between interfacial electroadhesive force and surface texture’ was selected by the Editorial Board for inclusion in the exclusive ‘Highlights of 2016’ collection, chosen on the basis of novelty, scientific impact and broadness of appeal.
