PhD Research Student

Francesco Mariottini is a Postgraduate Researcher in the SOLAR-TRAIN project on photovoltaic modules life time forecast and evaluation, a European Commission funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN). His PhD at the Centre of Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST), supervised by Professor Ralph Gottschalg, focuses on performance analysis of operational photovoltaic systems for identification and modelling of system life time energy yield.

Francesco obtained his two-year MEng at University of Rome Tor Vergata (Italy) with an experimental research thesis on outdoor performance of photovoltaic modules. After, he specialised further in data management and analysis, first working at URMET Sistemi and Cesare Fiorucci (Italy).

Since 2013 he has worked mainly as a researcher, analysing both statistics and normative within various European projects on renewable energy and energy efficiency. He started at Sofia Energy Agency (Bulgaria) before working at Buildings Performance Institute Europe and at the Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Associations (Belgium).
