The Wolfson School E-Learning Advent Calendar - a gift to you this Christmas

It feels Christmassy already in the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering with the Advent Calendar back by popular demand and available for everyone.
The Wolfson School E-Learning Advancement Team started the Advent Calendar last year 2020 hosted on LEARN and it was well received. Learning and teaching guidance, tips, and best practice (online and in-person) are shared daily in December for all academics. Colleagues said they found it very useful, enjoyed the variety of designs and looked forward to each post.
This year’s calendar builds on the success of last year and is even more accessible in a new home – SharePoint Site of the Office 365 suite. This interactive site allows users to like, share and comment on posts. It’s creating discussions and helping colleagues share best practice. The search facility makes life even easier as you can search for a particular topic. The Wolfson team has pulled together insights and information from Loughborough and across the sector so everything is in one place.
The daily Advent Calendar new posts are framed into the team’s RISE (Reflect, Improve, Share and Empower) agenda.
Michael Henshaw (ADT): “The RISE forum has been one of our most successful initiatives to share good practice at a time when there have been many changes in teaching. Advent is about important new arrivals: in this case a reminder of the new practices that have arrived during the year.”
Sheryl Williams (E-Learning Advancement Team Lead): “We have been looking for different ways to engage and support our colleagues with useful e-learning tips, while also bringing a smile. Using SharePoint add so much interactivity and opportunity.”
Tendai Dube (E-Learning Technology Specialist): “It’s amazing what you can do with the University’s existing systems. I have a lot of fun sourcing pictures and coming up with the designs in PowerPoint for each day’s topic, and then creating a post on the SharePoint Site.”
