Alumna crowdfunds for new collection of sports apparel

Alumna Mari Thomas has launched her debut sports clothing collection under her new brand, MAAREE, designed to give women stylish and supportive workout apparel.
Since graduating from Loughborough University in 2012 with a degree in Sports Technology, sport enthusiast Mari has made it her mission to introduce a sports bra which gives women the confidence to exercise with the correct support.
Now, via a crowdfunding campaign, Mari is generating community funds to bring her project to the market.
MAAREE has also entered the Virgin VOOM 2018 competition to win the chance to pitch to Sir Richard Branson himself.
Mari worked in the University’s Sports Technology Institute for one year, testing the performance of sports bras for a number of top brands. With this experience and knowledge, she is well placed to enter the market with her very own range of high-impact and medium-impact sports bras, featuring the innovative Overband technology.
Elliot Welland, Mari’s partner and Loughborough alumnus, has a key involvement in this project and works hard to ensure MAAREE is a success.
Elliot graduated in 2010, also with a degree in Sports Technology.
