PhD student, Rebecca Grant, has been awarded the prestigious Institution of Mechanical Engineers Research Scholarship at the IMechE Vision Awards.

Loughborough University is set to play a crucial role in the next step towards the transformation of the UK’s energy sector after the Government confirmed £60 million investment for the Energy Research Accelerator (ERA). The investment is backed by a further £120 million from the private sector and Midlands Innovation universities.

The Royal Academy of Engineering has announced that Professor Colin Garner, Wolfson School of Mechanical, Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering, at Loughborough University has been elected as a new Fellow of the Academy.

A failsafe track switch designed to eradicate a 200-year-old problem on the railway has been created by engineers at Loughborough University. The breakthrough technology known as Repoint is a robust and reliable points mechanism, which will improve safety, reduce maintenance costs and boost capacity on the railways.

The Loughborough University Sir Robert Martin Prizes are the premier awards of the University. Three Prizes may be awarded annually to graduating students, in recognition of an exceptional combination of both academic and non-academic achievement.
