Mérari Ferreira is a Developmental Psychologist interested in prematurity, numerical cognition and educational neuroscience. She is originally from Brazil where she completed her BSc in Psychology followed by clinical training in Neuropsychology. She moved to the UK to pursue her academic career. She has a MSc in Paediatric Neuropsychology from UCL GOS ICH and she is currently finalising her PhD at the same university. During her PhD she examined the impact of prematurity in numerical cognition in both infants and school-aged children born very preterm. She employed different techniques such as neuropsychological assessments, eye-tracking, and event-related potentials.
At the Centre for Mathematical Cognition, she will work with Dr Iro Xenidou-Dervou investigating the role of symbolic representation predicting mathematical attainment in pre-schoolers.
