Biography
Following a first degree in chemistry at Leeds University, I completed a PhD in pyrotechnic combustion (experimental and theoretical) and worked as a research scientist for British Gas from 1978 to 2002. My interests included combustion chemistry with a practical and mathematical content, and analytical chemistry connected to gas odorisation.
I retrained as a maths teacher in 2003, and since 2006 I have tutored maths both in state schools and as a private tutor up to to A level.
