Date of start of studies: 1 October 2019
Supervisors: Dr Lara Alcock and Dr Nina Attridge

In 2018 I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Leicester (BSc Psychology). Following this, I worked as a research assistant with Dr Caren Frosch investigating the role of reasoning skills in mathematics achievement in children. In September 2019, I started my studies at Loughborough MEC after receiving a 1+3 studentship from the ESRC Midlands Graduate School DTP.

My research will investigate the extent to which general and quantitative reasoning skills are developed in Core Maths and AS/A level mathematics. I will investigate the mechanisms that link mathematical learning to general and quantitative reasoning. Furthermore, I am interested in finding ways to improve general and quantitative reasoning skills. These main research areas will be addressed by working in collaboration with MEI, an independent charity committed to improving mathematics education.
