Following a BSc in Aeronautical Engineering and an MSc in Air Transport Management, I spent 10 years working in the Aviation Industry, using data to run large scale simulations on how passengers move around the airport terminal and desiging any necessary expansion plans to accomodate for future forecasted passenger growth.

In 2013 I retrained as a secondary maths teacher, working in the North-West of England, as well as North Wales. I held the position of whole school numeracy lead for the last 4 years before beginning my self-funded PhD into how maths manipulatives can help reduce maths anxiety as well as develop deeper understandings of the concepts being taught.

How and why do mathematical manipulatives reduce maths anxiety?
