Following a BA in Management Studies, I worked as a graduate in Financial Accounting for British Midland Airways. Next, I completed a primary PGCE in outstanding primary schools in partnership with the University of Nottingham. Teaching since 2003, I have worked in six primary schools based in the East Midlands. Between 2014 and 2018 I was awarded the National SENCo Award, National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership, and an MA in Education by Nottingham Trent University. Before joining Loughborough University in October 2020, I also completed an MSc in Psychology accredited by the British Psychological Society.

My research is funded by Research England and concerns investigating early predictors of mathematics achievement. I am particularly interested in the development of children’s early mathematical skills and developing early screening tools to identify children at risk of Developmental Dyscalculia – a specific learning difficulty in mathematics. Raising awareness of neurodiversity amongst educators is a key aim of my research.
