Storm Force joins Sony and other big industry names as finalists for prestigious gaming award
An online game developed by a Loughborough mathematician has been shortlisted for a prestigious gaming award.
Storm Force is a free, online, educational game, primarily for children aged 12 and above, that aims to save lives by teaching children how to identify early warnings of coastal flooding.
The Storm Force design team, Peek and Poke, have been shortlisted in the Best Educational or Serious Game category in the TIGA Games Industry Awards 2019.
All video games shortlisted for an award are entered as Game of the Year Finalists.
Other Game of the Year Finalists include big names such as Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe, Team17 Digital Limited and PlayStation London Studio.
Dr Renzi commented: “I am really thrilled about Storm Force and Peek and Poke being shortlisted.
“I’ve been involved in the development of the game from its conception throughout its making, and I am extremely pleased that it is now competing with video games made by the most respected brands in the entertainment industry.”
The Game of the Year is decided through a public vote. Votes can be cast here. The winner will be announced at the TIGA Awards ceremony on 7 November.
