Matthew Inglis has been awarded a grant of £67,750 with his colleague Dr Ulises Xolocotzin Eligio, who is based at Cinvestav in Mexico City. This is a 3-year British Academy Newton Advanced Fellowship, which will fund Ulises to visit the MEC for three periods of several weeks, to set up a mobile eye-movement lab, and to hire an RA in Mexico to collect both survey and eye-movement data related to functional reasoning in early algebra. It will also fund Matthew to visit Mexico twice to deliver an eye-tracking workshop and collaborate on analysis and dissemination.
