The School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering join The Faraday Institution in game-changing research in energy storage technologies

The School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering have joined The Faraday Institution and been awarded Loughborough's first Faraday Institution funded project, Microwave Assisted Processing for Interface Tailoring of Si-C composite anodes (MAP IT).


Launched just four years ago, the Faraday Institution has assembled a research community of 500 researchers across 27 universities and more than 50 industry partners to work on game-changing energy storage technologies that will transform the UK energy landscape from transportation to grid.


The MAP IT project on battery anodes, Anodes, will be led by Loughborough Professor, Bala Vaidhyanathan, to design and implement a fast, energy-efficient microwave processing pathway that offers greater process control and selective heating.


Along with 15 other new projects, The Faraday Institution aims to deliver transformative results that could lead to a second stage of collaboration research beyond the initial exploratory work.
