Loughborough’s School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering celebrates its research with successful in-person event
The School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering (AACME) Research Day was held on Wednesday 22 October, showcasing the School’s strong research pedigree and culture.
The day provided an opportunity for researchers, staff and the industrial community to meet and share ongoing research and ideas, to promote discussion and to strengthen collaboration.
Whilst the pandemic meant a pause in the event last year, all activities were delivered to an in-person audience of around 150 attendees. The event comprised of several short research presentations from third year research students, covering the breadth of AACME’s research topics, including Bio-X, net zero carbon, digital engineering, and the circular economy.
Research posters from those researchers in the second year of their PhD study were also on display at the event, covering the main themes of the School’s research. These are available to view on the AACME Research Day website.
A plenary was delivered by Professor Mike Clinch - Visiting Professor of Materials Innovation and Sustainability, and Senior Consultant and Materials Development Group Leader at Innoval Technology – focusing on his experience of using materials as a key enabler for industrial innovation.
The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony for the best posters and research presentations and closing remarks from the Dean of the School, Professor Chris Reilly.
