New Associate Dean for Enterprise Appointed

Adrian Spencer New Associate Dean Enterprise

Professor Adrian Spencer has been appointed as the new Associate Dean for Enterprise (ADE) for the School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering (AACME).

Adrian, who is a Professor in Thermo-fluid Mechanics, brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously been the Head of Department for Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering (2013-16) and is currently the Director of the Caterpillar Innovation and Research Centre(IRC).

The ADE is an important role within the School Management Team (SMT) and more specifically is to provide strategic leadership and to champion the enhancement of research, teaching and enterprise activities throughout the School.

Working with high profile business partners has been a significant part of Adrian’s research activities over the years and his knowledge of how commercial organisations like to operate will be invaluable in this role.

Alongside his new role Adrian continues to be very research-active in his field of experimental thermo-fluid mechanics, using optical measurement techniques applied to gas turbine flows, the optimisation of which ultimately leads to more efficient combustion and hence lower emissions and environmental impact.

If you would like to know more about enterprise activity within the school or need help or advice in this area, then please contact Adrian.
