Spanish Fast Track 2 

This 10-week course for post-beginners is modelled on credit-bearing module LAN302 (Spanish 2). Successful completion of Fast track 2 gives right of entry to credit-bearing module LAN303 (Spanish 3). This course requires regular work and regular attendance. It includes a third hour of online work per week.

Aims: 

  • To provide non-specialist learners who have achieved CEFR A1.1 with further practical communicative competence in the language.
  • To develop cultural competence.
  • To encourage simple thought patterns in the target language.
  • To reach level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages wihen taken in combination with Fast Track 1, LAN301, or another course at CEFR A1.1 level.

In addition to 2 x 45 minutes (with a 10-minute break in between) per week for 10 weeks and guided independent study materials online, the fee includes: 

  • A short introduction to using the learning platforms (for learners new to Teams).
  • Access to the end of semester listening, reading & writing assessments + preparation materials and answer sheets for self-evaluation.
  • For an additional fee, learners can be evaluated by the teacher (oral task + marked work and feedback). Details to be provided during the semester.

N.B.  This is a post-beginner course for learners who have studied for one semester, once a week.  We do not recommend that you sign up if you are more advanced.

Spanish Fast Track 4 

This 10-week lower intermediate course for post-beginners is modelled on credit-bearing module LAN304 (Spanish 4). Successful completion of Fast Track 4 gives right of entry to credit-bearing module LAN305 (Spanish 5). This course requires regular work and regular attendance. It includes a third hour of online work per week.

Open to learners who have completed module LAN303, Spanish Fast Track 3 or have taken 3 semesters of Spanish or equivalent (around 70 hours of contact time + independent study). This is a GCSE A or B plus one semester of teaching at University level.

Aims:

  • To reach Level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages when taken in combination with Spanish Level 3 (LAN303).
  • To further develop practical communicative competence and cultural competence.
  • Examples of topic areas covered in this module include health; conversations on the phone; political, social and cultural changes in recent history.
