OE-A Membership & 2019 Competition

The Design School will host a presentation by Sandy Gunn from the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) on 27th September to discuss ‘Designing with Printable Electronics’.

The presentation will be to our first ever students on the brand-new MSc Integrated Industrial Design course, and Sandy will highlight the manufacturing technology that the Centre has, and the opportunity that the students have to utilise this. In addition, he will provide full details on the 2019 OE-A competition.

Loughborough University are now members of the OE-A (Organic and Printed Electronics Association), which is a working group within VDMA (the Mechanical Engineering Industry Association) – the largest industry association in Europe – that aims to build a bridge between science, technology and application.

Dr Darren Southee, a Senior Lecturer in at the Design School with more than 15 years of experience in printed electronics research, says joining the OE-A will continue to build on the University’s success in this field.

He said: “The OE-A is a global strategic platform, building bridges between science, technology and applications, and fostering collaborative links wherever possible. Loughborough can take nationally recognised world-leading research and move it onto the International stage”.

“For Loughborough to be a part of the OE-A is how it should be, and we are looking forward to making our meaningful, collaborative contribution.”

As a member of the Association, Loughborough students will have the chance to enter the 2019 OE-A competition. This annual competition is looking for new ideas, prototypes and designs related to organic and printed electronics, and is ideal for theseMSc Integrated Industrial Design students as well as other PhD students in this field.

The OE-A (Organic and Printed Electronics Association) Competition consists out of the following five categories:

Prototypes & New Products

Freestyle Demonstrator

Publicly Funded Projects

Printed Electronics Vision

Public Choice Award
