Dr Mark Evans invited to judge International Design Excellence Awards

Dr Mark Evans has been invited by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) to join the jury for the 2018 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA). Founded in 1980, the IDEA is billed as “the largest and most eagerly anticipated annual awards”, with gold award winners being added to the permanent collection in the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn USA.

The jury of world-renowned designers and educators evaluate products from 20 competition categories that include Automotive and Transportation, Medical & Health, Digital Interaction, Service Design and Consumer Technology. Previous gold award winners include the BMW i3 electric car, Nest thermostat, Beats by Dr Dre wireless headphones, Nike+ Fuel Band, IDEO Human-Centred Design Toolkit and Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Commenting on his appointment to the jury, for which he will have membership for two years, Dr Evans said: “It is an honour to be nominated as a member of the IDEA jury and privilege to be in a position to acknowledge the highest achievements of the profession that combine ingenuity, functionality and beauty to enhance our everyday lives”.

The 2018 award winners will be announced at the IDEA Ceremony on 19 September 2018 at the IDSA International Design Conference in New Orleans.
