Designing for a circular economy
Although theoretically this has a lot of merit, experience suggests that when designing products made from multiple materials, it is a really challenging ideal to adhere to. In addition to this consideration of the circular economy invariably ignores the user which creates a point of weakness.
The proposed PhD will combine the fields of commercial sustainable design and design for behaviour change to investigate the practical application of the circular economy in order to better understand the challenges to and requirements for its successful implementation.
