Anna-Maria is a full-time PhD student in Loughborough Design School.
In 2017, Anna-Maria graduated from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), where she gained her diploma (MEng) in Civil Engineering, with specialisation in Transportation Planning and Engineering. Her thesis was “Analysis of the impact of weather conditions on the behaviour and safety of young drivers on rural roads with the use of driving simulator”.
In April 2018, she started her PhD, fully funded by Loughborough Design School.
Anna-Maria’s current research interest is overtaking behaviour, especially safety critical scenarios and perceived comfort.
Quantifying Comfortable Overtaking Behaviour for Autonomous Vehicles
The aim of this PhD thesis is to quantify human-like overtaking manoeuvres in order to inform the design of a comfortable experience for the future drivers/passengers of autonomous vehicles (AVs), while prioritising safety.
