Loughborough Computer Science alumnus wins Emmy Award for work on hit RuPaul show

Nick Murray has won an Emmy Award in America for his work on hit TV show, ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’.

At the 70th Emmy award ceremony last month, Nick took home the award for ‘Outstanding Directing for a Reality Programme’. He was nominated for his direction of the episode ‘10s Across the Board’, which aired in March.

The award represents Nick’s first Creative Arts Emmy nomination and win, beating four other nominees. After accepting his award, Nick said:

“This is most incredible moment of my professional life. I’m proud to be a part of the global phenomenon that is RuPaul’s Drag Race.

“It is a privilege to work on such a ground-breaking, positive and accepting show.”

Nick, who graduated in 1991 with an MSc in Information Technology, has directed the show for eight years, joining in its third season.

The show sees American drag queen and actor, RuPaul, who also won an Emmy, lead a panel of judges to find a new drag superstar. Contestants are given challenges in the weekly show, with a contestant eliminated each week. The programme airs internationally and is now preparing for its 11th series.

Congratulations to Nick for his recent success!
