Bio: Denis Battistella, UK HER Account manager – I have been in NVIDIA for 2.5 years and I focus on developing relations in the higher education and research field. My role is to support the growth of University accounts from identifying the right solution for their needs to helping with implementation, technical support and enablement.

Bio: Paul Graham, Senior Solutions Architect - Paul Graham joined NVIDIA in Dec 2018 where he has responsibility for supporting customers and partners in delivering accelerated solutions for the Higher Education, High Performance Computing and AI communities in the UK. As well as providing advice to researchers on making the best use of their NVIDIA hardware, Paul teaches on how to program for GPUs, mentors at hackathons and regularly engages with the research software engineering groups at UK universities. Paul is an advocate for using accelerated computing in HPC, and the emerging use of AI as a powerful tool for researchers.

Title: NVIDIA: AI tools for researchers

Seminar abstract: In recent years there has been an exponential rise in the application of AI to an extensive range of fields, from analysing medical images to generating artwork. The use of GPUs for both training and inference on deep learning models has been a key technological enabler of this. In this session NVIDIA will highlight some of the GPU accelerated frameworks available which can make developing and exploiting AI approaches much more straightforward for researchers. It will include a brief overview of the hardware features that help accelerate AI training and inference, then we will look at examples of the state of the art of what can be achieved using the many tools available to researchers, across areas such as digital twins, physics-informed neural networks, robotics and natural language processing.
