Research Seminar - Building better batteries

Presented By Prof. Emma Kendrick (Birmingham)

About this event

Better batteries are key to using electricity in a lower carbon future, with applications in transport, industrial and domestic consumers. Research today aims to make them efficient, cheap, reliable and recyclable. This talk will some recent developments regarding the manufacture of sodium- and lithium-ion batteries. In particular two aspects of the manufacturing processes will be discussed. The manufacturability questions around sodium and compares to what we know about lithium-ion batteries. In particular, it discusses the process for making the inks and electrodes, and the formation process at the end of the manufacturing chain.
