Forensic examiners are in danger of missing evidence in low-light environments if their vision has not fully adapted to the dark, a new Loughborough University study has found. The researchers found that people misread letters and numbers and missed other pieces of information when asked to identify fluorescent marks in a dark room.

Loughborough University’s STEMLab has been announced as a winner at the S-Lab Awards for Excellence in Laboratory Design, Management and Operation. Pro Vice-Chancellor for Teaching, Professor Rachel Thomson, collected the award for the building which opened in 2017. STEMLab won the Multi-Disciplinary Science Teaching and Research Buildings category.
