Chemistry department highly ranked in National Student Survey

Loughborough University has finished Top 5 in the annual National Student Survey (NSS), securing one of its best ever results. This year’s figures see Loughborough rise three places from its 2014 finish, and rank as the top East Midlands university by some margin.

Our School of Science departments also ranked highly in this year’s survey, with the Department of Chemistry ranking 1st in the UK for overall satisfaction in Chemistry (based on mean score). The Department scored highly across the board:

  • 1st in the UK for Academic Support
  • 1st in the UK for Assessment and Feedback
  • 2nd in the UK for Learning Resources
  • 2nd in the UK for Personal Development

Speaking about the results, Loughborough University Vice Chancellor Professor Robert Allison said:

“Loughborough is committed to providing its students with a world class experience, and preparing them for life after University. In a year we were named University of the Year at the What Uni Student Choice Awards, and achieved 2nd in the THE Student Experience Survey, it is heartening to see these figures from the NSS, which show students are genuinely satisfied with the educational experiences and opportunities we are providing.”

The Department of Chemistry is highly rated in the The Guardian 2016 league table and, from early 2017, the student experience it offers will be further enhanced by the University’s planned STEMLab development.
