Prestigious award win for Head of Department

Professor Jin Xuan, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, has been awarded with the 2020 Beilby Medal and Prize.

The Beilby Medal and Prize is jointly awarded and administered annually in rotation by the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI), The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) and aims to recognise a scientist or engineer whose work is of exceptional practical significance in chemical engineering, applied science, energy efficiency or a related field. The 2020 award was administered by SCI.

Jin has been recognised for his work on reaction and thermofluids engineering, with the aim being to achieve clean growth, sustainable development and industrial decarbonisation.

Professor Xuan will be presented with his medal, certificate and £1,000 prize at the Beilby Medal and Lecture 2020 event on 2 December, where he will also give a talk entitled ‘Tailoring Future Renewable Fuel Systems for Net Zero UK’.
