Chemical Engineering Graduation 2018

On a sunny Wednesday in July, our soon to be graduates and their families joined with Chemical Engineering Department staff to celebrate achieving their degree at Loughborough University.
As well as enjoying a buffet lunch, Dr Valerie Pinfield, Head of the Chemical Engineering Department had the pleasure of bestowing prizes upon some of the Graduands:
Jeff Li Nan won three of the available prizes:
BP Chemicals Design Prize - for the best MEng individual design
Esso Petroleum Company Final Year Prize – for the top student in examined modules
Intelligent Energy Prize – for the highest scoring finalist
Chemical Engineering Department BEng Design Prize – Jack King
Department Project Prize – Awarded to the student or students for the best research project/projects – Temitayo Coker and Christopher Elufioye
H. K. Suttle Prize – Matthew Palmer
Michael Edwards Memorial Prize – Awarded to the student or students with the best literature reviews – Alistair McCue, Jennifer Volz and Joseph Bracher
Placement Enterprise Award – Awarded by Briar Chemicals Ltd, Norfolk to Carmina Harrod
Salters Graduate Award Nominee – Thomas Thurston
Staff were also honoured with Teaching Awards on the day: Brahim Benyahiya (Part A and Part C), Anna Trybala and Gianluca Li Puma (Part B) and Steve Tarleton (Part C.)
Steve Tarleton is featured in the photograph to the left receiving his award – the only photograph he didn’t take on the day!
Dr Pinfield summed up the day:
“On a wonderful sunny day in Loughborough, we celebrated the success our 2018 graduates with them, their friends and family.
Always a highlight of the academic year – there were smiles all round!
Congratulations to our prize winners, and our good wishes for all our graduates for their future career.”
