Technical Tutor in Silversmithing and Jewellery
Richard Eagles has worked for the University for nearly 20 years. After graduating form Loughborough with a BA in Silvesmithing and Jewellery, He was Employed as a Technician progressing to Technical Tutor. He has extensive experience in Rubber mould making, casting fine metal pieces and model making.
He has helped other departments in the University in research in the casting of Aluminium alloys. He still produces Jewellery and Silversmithing but his main line of interest is model making to scale. He is a member of the IPMS Which has helped his development in this area. He is currently looking into electronics in this field.
The flat bed laser, 3D printer and Heat press are other areas into which he is expanding his knowledge.
His main concern is the running of the fine metal workshops With Christopher Ludlow. Inductions and Health and Safety for students are but a part of his remit. Assisting students and their ideas, from sketches and thoughts to produce a final conclusion. Using a variety of materials.
The workshop and facilities have a varied mixture of Students, including, Fine Art, Illustration, Foundation, Textiles and multimedia Textiles plus other areas of the University.
