Creative Writing student selected for arts placement
Richard Cater, an MA Creative Writing student in the School, has been chosen for the position of Conference Project Assistant with Writing East Midlands (WEM).
A writer development agency, WEM runs events and projects, develops opportunities for emerging and established writers, and collaborates with cultural organisations including schools, universities, arts venues and several others.
Richard’s placement will see him working one day a week in WEM's Nottingham office and will provide him with experience of working for a small arts organisation. He will be involved in writing development, project management and marketing.
Richard said: “I'm very excited to start work on the internship. My working experiences outside of University have all been focused around my undergraduate degree in design, so this opportunity to meet and work with a group who aid and promote upcoming writers in the East Midlands is perfect. I'm hoping to learn all about the writing industry.”
One of the events that Richard will be involved in will be the annual Writer’s Conference, which will take place at Loughborough University in March 2016.
