About this event
The Peach Lecture brings a high profile speaker to Leicester every two year. It is organised by Leicester Literary and Philosophical Society, in partnership with the University of Leicester. Professor Alison Yarrington, Dean of the School of the Arts, English and Drama, is the current president of the Society. The lecture is held in memory of Harry Hardy Peach, a Leicester industrialist, campaigner for good design, promoter of civic improvements and an outspoken advocate of protection of the countryside.
The subject of the lecture reflects Peach’s wide ranging interests. This year’s speaker will be particularly appropriate: Professor Tom Inns, Director of Glasgow School of Art, trained both as an engineer and a designer and has had a career in design and art education. He is interested in the application of design method to wider issues in the economy and the environment.
Members of the audience are invited to join the speaker at a drinks reception after the event. Admission is free and there is no need to book.
