Professor Alison Yarrington, Dean of the School of the Arts, English and Drama, will give the Leicester Literary and Philosophical Society's Lecture for the 2016-17 season.
An art historian specialising in the history of British art and sculpture c.1750-1914, Professor Yarrington's research interests include sculpture’s display histories, the marble trade, women and sculpture, public sculpture, maritime sculpture, and, more broadly, British-Italian cultural transactions and the history of collections and collecting.
Professor Yarrington is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art and a governor of Glasgow School of Art. She served as Chair of the Association of Art Historians 2011-14 and is a member of the British National Committee of the international subject association for art history, CIHA [Comité International d'Histoire de l'Art].
