Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) Requirements
All UK/EU applicants under 19 years old on the 31 August of their chosen year of entry need to have achieved GCSE C grades in English Language and Maths or qualifications which have been deemed as equivalent for this purpose. Successful applicants who do not have one or either of these qualifications will be expected to study for them in parallel to the Foundation course. The University will support this and can suggest local colleges and online options.
English language qualifications for International Students
A list of English Language qualifications can be found at international webpages.
Please note that the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design – Foundation Studies is classified as a non-degree course. To obtain a Tier 4 visa, international applicants must have a UKVI IELTS SELT issued by an approved IELTS test centre. A list of these centres can be viewed on the UKVI website. This is irrespective of whether you hold any other English Language qualification. This must be an IELTS SELT (Academic) as an ordinary IELTS test will not be accepted by UKVI for visa applications.
