My work aims to explore cultural identity in relation to social class by offering an alternative way of viewing the council estate where I grew up. I became interested in this concept due to my own upbringing, as well as influences from artists Richard Billingham and Grayson Perry. I do this with surreal collage as it allows me to deconstruct and produce new images with an altered meaning providing an outlet to craft my own world. My work also makes reference to urban visual art with the use of spray paint. I use this to contrast traditional methods of painting with contemporary ideas.
