Arts degree show2017

Shannon McConnell

Eyes have consistently been a subject that I have been drawn to within my work.

Reasons for this are ranging from their appearance to their purpose and consequently I have explored various different routes to display this: painting – both abstract and realistic – detailed drawings and photography.

My practice currently focuses on identity through irises. Irises are completely unique to each individual, comparable to a finger print but in the eye. I am using photography with a macro lens to display the individual strands and shapes that are only perceptible when the iris is magnified, combined with the unique amalgamation of colours to form an exclusive blend that only the subject can possess.
