Arts degree show2017

Richard Sekhon

Through my practice, I have been examining my own personal attachment to the places of my heritage: Ireland and India.

My installation combines the two cultures through the use of peat bricks dug from my relatives bog in Co. Roscommon, whilst the design takes inspiration from the bastions of Agra Fort in India.  My photographic work documents the experiences of my travels as I explored the Punjab region of India for the first time, supported by the Dennis Holt Travel Award, as well as the Irish bog. Working with two modes of artistic practice has provided the final piece with a greater sense of cohesion, enabling a strong narrative.
