My work follows different themes of racial and sexual stereotypes that are associated with black women.

Society has an unconscious ability to weave people into modern culture by threads of different negative stereotypes from their ethnic backgrounds. Using a variety of materials, I tell stories of significant black women, fictional and non-fictional, who are key examples of these labels. For example, the Black Female Archetypes, which are pernicious instances of how black women have been promulgated since slavery. Incorporating a variety of multi-media techniques such as weave, drawn imagery and photographs, the work is intended to tackle the deeper responsibilities of discrimination from social and political platforms of black Afro-Caribbean culture.
