My work is an exploration of Dorothy Crawford’s lifetime of memories.
Through a series of hanging artworks, the spectator is led visually through the tale of Dorothy’s life, culminating in a life-size sculpted representation of her as she is in 2017.
When we think of the elderly we often think of them as they are now and ignore their life experiences. The world the spectator sees within my artwork is a window into Dorothy’s memory.
In my biro drawings I combine old family photographs with historical imagery from various sources. I sprayed my drawings with hairspray achieving a semi-transparent effect, blurring the imagery as memories become blurred over time.
