My work combines photography and film theory into large paintings.
I am interested in employing techniques used in movies such as wide, immersive frames and compositions that draw the eye across the entire image. My oversized canvases envelop the audience and show varied acrylic and oil painting techniques. The outcomes both link to the original photographs and stand as paintings on their own. I take photographs of urban architecture and decay as if they are movie stills – and so my paintings end up being a moment that has been captured in time. I want to imply that there is more going on beyond the painting.
