Engine Test Cells

The Powertrain facilities consist of eight purpose-built engine test cells and a chassis dynamometer.

This facility consists of 'state of the art' engine test equipment including four Froude dynamometers, two Ricardo-Schenk transient dynamometers and two Horiba emissions gas analysers.

There is capacity for up to 12 engines available for both teaching and research including a Lotus fully optical single cylinder research engine with a fully variable computer controlled active valve-train system.
