Research Interests and Activities

My research interest is mainly focused on the fundamentals of fuels and internal combustion engine systems for low-emissions vehicles. Furthermore, I am adept in using in-cylinder optical diagnostics tools including Particle image velocimetry (PIV) application, Planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF), Laser-Induced Incandescence (LII), Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer (PDPA), High speed imaging and schlieren photography. In addition, I have a wide experience with combustion fundamentals studies including premixed and partially premixed combustion flames, turbulent and laminar flames, flame kernel and flame stability.

Current projects and research interests include:

  • IC engine emissions measurements.
  • Sprays and flash boiling.
  • Spark plug configuration and its impact on engine performance and emissions.
  • Developed new burners with low emissions and high flame stability.
