Alumni discuss careers in RAF

Flt Lt Jon Bond and Flt Lt Christopher Hughes visited campus on Friday 6 March to give a guest lecture to Aeronautical Engineering students.

Having recently returned from a tour of North America, where the Red Arrows performed displays across numerous states, the pair shared stories about their careers in the armed forces and their experiences with the world-famous display team.

Jon is currently Red 6 and flies as part of the synchro pair, performing exciting manoeuvres during air displays. The alumnus is embarking on his third year as a Red Arrows pilot, having previously been Red 2 and Red 7.

Chris is Officer Commanding Engineering Support Flight and has completed his first RAF tour with the display team. In his role as an engineer, Chris has been responsible for the engineering standards and safety of the team. Having spent a year with the Red Arrows, he will soon move to a new squadron.
