Aeronautical Engineering Student on Placement in Canada

Sophie Hylton x 300

MEng Aeronautical Engineering student, Sophie Hylton, is currently on placement in Ottawa in Canada.

Sophie is extremely busy with her work, but she managed to spare a few minutes to share a little information in regard to her placement:

"I work for Marshall Aerospace Canada Inc. in their Ottawa office. They are one of the companies involved in the maintenance of the Royal Canadian Air Force Hercules fleet. I am involved with creating the maintenance packages for the aircraft. My boss is also getting me involved with other projects to give me a range of experience within the industry. I really enjoy it because the range of experience is helping me to decide what I want to do with my future career.

The biggest experience I have gained from doing a placement abroad is the independence of living entirely on my own. Without having other people to rely on you realise just how capable you are. It has also provided me with the opportunity of exploring another country over the course of the year."

Many thanks to Sophie for sharing a little of her experience with us - if you would like to become an Aeronautical Engineering student at Loughborough University, please follow this link for further information.
