Each course aims to cultivate and hone originality within our students, who are continuously encouraged to develop and occupy their own unique creative spaces with confidence.
Our School’s unique focus is upon providing a vibrant, innovative and practical environment in which students can fully explore their creative capacity under guidance of expert academic and technical support staff. Students are inspired to develop a wide range of skills and experiences through creative hands-on work and via the School’s extensive industry links. There are so many great reasons to study a Creative Arts course at Loughborough – here are just a few of them…
Our excellent reputation
We are ranked 2nd in the UK for Art and Design (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020) and among the world Top 25 for Art and Design (QS World Rankings by Subject 2020.)
Year-long work placements
All our Creative Arts undergraduate degrees offer the opportunity to integrate a work placement or study abroad year. This is an invaluable opportunity for students to explore future career paths, network with employers and broaden their cultural horizons. Recent placement destinations of Creative Arts students include Mondelez, The Walt Disney Company, H&M, Suzie Turner, Dr. Martens, The MTC, Nacho Carbonell, Debenhams and more. Olivia is a Textiles student and completed her placement at luxury fabric and wallpaper company Colefax and Fowler – see how she got on in the short video below.
Competitions and live industry briefs
Not only do students benefit from first-class teaching and abundant placement opportunities, our long-standing industry connections provide additional benefits. Courses often integrate real-life industry project briefs and students are actively encouraged to partake in renowned competitions.
The Arts Degree Show
Final year students can showcase their work at our widely anticipated annual Degree Show, which attracts employers and industry contacts from across the UK. Foundation students are invited to take part in the Art and Design Foundation Exhibition which runs alongside the Degree Show. You can see some inspiring examples of student work from this year below.
Our Creative Arts students benefit from an array of state-of-the-art facilities, each providing industry-standard production possibilities and an unparalleled level of professional training. These are housed between six superior creative hubs: Creative Digital Technologies and Photography; Print, Dye, Weave, Stitch and Digital Embroidery; Wood, Metal, Plastics and Laser; Painting and Printmaking; Ceramics and Mouldmaking; and Performance and Rehearsal Spaces, Costumes, Sets and Props.
