Student art grants

Do you have an idea for a fabulous arts-related activity but need funding to make it happen? Would you love to see more arts activity in your hall or department? Would you like to see your society develop more activity or work with professional artists? If the answer is yes, LU Arts can provide you with the funds and support to help you take forward your ideas.

Our student arts grants support the delivery of more arts activity across the two campuses and are open to all taught and research students studying at Loughborough University and Loughborough University London. Successful applicants will gain funding and support to help them develop creative projects, which increase the presence of the arts on the campus and give students the opportunity to engage as an audience member or participant.

The funds are specifically aimed at societies and schools, departments and halls. Some of the things we would consider funding are:

Society grants

Funding is available to LSU Societies to deliver arts activity. It is open to all societies whether they are arts related or not, but the activity itself must be arts related or involve artists.

Societies could apply for:

  • Workshops
  • Trips
  • Events
  • Collaborations
  • Talks

Hall and department grants

Would you like to develop an arts related activity in your hall or department. If so, LU Arts might be able to help not only with funding but also with help with organising. Funding from LU Arts can help support events that will then contribute to your hall or department becoming the hall or department of the year.

Students in halls and departments can apply for:

  • Arts activity as part of a welfare week
  • Open mic or talent contests
  • Workshops or Talks
  • Trips to galleries or theatres

Funds of up to £1,000 are available but must be for activity that extends the work of a society or supports activity within halls, schools or departments. We will not fund equipment or travel for individuals or work that forms part of a taught or research curriculum activity.

In addition to funding, LU Arts will provide successful applicants with support in delivering and marketing their events. You will gain valuable, transferable skills as part of this process.

We will happily listen to your initial ideas either by email or in person and we will provide feedback to those who were not successful. In the first instance please contact David Bell on 01509 222881 or email d.m.bell@lboro.ac.uk.

Download the application form below and email your completed form to luarts@lboro.ac.uk. Your application will then be assessed by a panel from LU Arts.

There is no deadline for applications but there is a limited amount available for student grants and once this has been used there will be no funding available until the following academic year.
