Student Team - Technical Support

Join our Student Team for 2022/23 and gain technical skills and experience, installing exhibitions and supporting events as required.

Are you a Loughborough student with practical skills in using basic tools and audio visual equipment? Would you like to gain skills and experience in a technician role and earn money? Then why not join our Student Team!

We have a vacancy for at least one technician on our Student Team. You will support us in delivering our various creative events and activities. This could include helping to put up exhibitions, moving things, or supporting our performances and events. Sometimes we need someone who is good with 'kit' and can work with digital projection or sound equipment.

What is the role?

The majority of the work will be providing technical support in the installation and removal of exhibitions. These will usually take place in Martin Hall Gallery, but this could involve working in other venues both on and off campus. You will also support the delivery of workshops and events that require audio-visual equipment and advise on any kit that LU Arts should purchase. You will support the delivery of student-led arts activity.

What skills/experience do I need?

You should have practical skills to help with the installation of exhibitions, this includes using basic tools, painting, and fixing items to walls and assembling equipment/basic furniture. You should also be familair with audio-visual equipment. You don’t need to be an expert though; further training can be given to the chosen candidate, if required.

What are the benefits?

You will earn £10.65 per hour for any work you complete for us. You will also gain key skills and experience in working for an arts organisation and the role will support your future employability.

Hours are casual, as and when required. This is usually at the start and end of exhibitions taking place in the Martin Hall Gallery. There is not a guaranteed or minimum number of hours.

Who can apply?

This opportunity is open to all current students (UG, PGT and PGR) based at the East Midlands campus; it does not matter what subject you are studying but it would be an advantage to have a demonstrable interest in the arts. You should expect to still be a student at Loughborough until the end of the academic year 2022/23 in order to be eligible for this role.
