Volunteers Week: Thank you for your support
This Volunteers Week (1 – 7 June 2021), we say a massive thank you to our alumni who have given their time to the University.
In the academic year 2020-21, more than 300 volunteering activities have been completed by over 270 people. These activities include panel events, guest lectures, fundraising, and advisory sessions.
Alumni have given their time through a number of different initiatives. They have supported current students, fellow alumni, and post-16 students considering higher education.
We have worked with our Alumni Advisory Board on several activities. Alumnus Alex Laybourne headed up The £10k Challenge, with over 170 alumni, staff, and students getting involved, and raising over £30,000.
Alumni regularly offer to work with our Careers Network to offer jobs and internships to students and graduates, as well as supporting the Loughborough Enterprise Network.
A group of 16 alumni shared insights at the Careers Network Employability Month, covering everything from AI and robotics to sustainability, and another seven alumni supported a new freelancer programme.
There have been panel events for recent graduates, insights shared with fellow alumni, and more.
Sessions have adapted for an online environment and alumni have contributed from around the world – with some people offering sessions at all times of day and night.
In whatever way you have chosen to get involved in the last year, whether that be in person, online, spreading the word about Loughborough, sharing your story or encouraging someone to apply to the University, we thank you for your support as advocates of the institution.
We look forward to working with more alumni over the next year – and hopefully to seeing some of you in person!
