Loughborough alumna and staff celebrate double win at British Psychological Society Book Awards

Alumna Maggi Evans, Professor Matthew Inglis, and Professor Camilla Gilmore received awards at The British Psychology Society’s Book Awards on 8 December 2021.

Maggi Evans (PhD Talent and career management 2017) has won the British Psychological Society’s (BPS) 2021 book award in the practitioner category. The alumna’s book ‘From Talent Management to Talent Liberation: A Practical Guide for Professionals, Managers and Leaders’ expands on her doctoral research about talent management with a focus on workplace career conversations. This investigates how research can have an impact on human resource management processes.

The book hopes to encourage other PhD candidates and reinforce that they can make a difference in the real world with their research.

Maggi said:

“Talent is not scarce, it’s our ability to set it free that is in short supply. This book helps organisations, leaders and individuals to find practical ways to liberate talent through creating organisations where everyone can thrive and do their best work”.

Loughborough School of Business and Economics’ Professor John Arnold and Dr Andrew Rothwell were Maggi’s doctoral supervisors during her PhD studies and are credited in the book.

The textbook category saw Professor Camilla Gilmore and Professor Matthew Inglis win for their title ‘An Introduction to Mathematical Cognition’. Both Camilla and Matthew are Professors of Mathematical Cognition at Loughborough University’s Mathematics Education Centre.
